नई जमीन नया आसमान नहीं मिलता                   New lands, new skies of bright innocent hope aren't around here

नई जमीन नया आसमान भी मिल जाए                 Someday a fresh new earth may yet be discovered somewhere
नए बशर का कहीं कुछ निशान नहीं मिलता          But new humanity breathes not, settled fixed ways abound here

जो एक खुदा नहीं मिलता तो इतना मातम क्या    Why this desperate mournful search for one unseen God up there
यहाँ तो कोई मेरा हम जबान नहीं मिलता                Find me first a comrade or companion's familiar free sound here

खड़ा हूँ कबसे मैं चेहरों के एक जंगल में                     I search fruitlessly for your visage, your look and outlook to share  
तुम्हारे चेहरे का कुछ भी यहाँ नहीं मिलता              Still standing amid the numerous foreign faces that surround here
