आँख से आँख मिला बात बनाता क्यूँ है         Just look me in the eyes, these lies, spin and stress.. why?
तू अगर मुझसे खफा है तो छुपाता क्यूँ है       Hide not your ire or changed feelings, just confess, why?

गैर लगता है न अपनों की तरह मिलता है     If  neither strangers nor intimate friends, then what are we?
तू जमाने की तरह मुझको सताता क्यूँ है       Why torment me like the rest? to hurt?, to oppress, why?

वक़्त के साथ खयालात बदल जाते हैं            Its true time transforms us, our thoughts, our attitudes too
यह हकीकत है मगर मुझको सुनाता क्यूँ है   Why mention it now though? as a hint? just express, why?

एक मुददत से जहां काफिले गुज़रे ही नहीं     No caravans have tread on this old forgotten path in ages
ऐसी राहों पे चरागों को जलाता क्यूँ है            Why reignite lost ways and old wounds, why digress, why?
